This man is a winemaker as much as an entomologist, a paleontologist or an archeologist. He is convinced that the vintners of Pouilly, who have the pearl of terroirs, could well possess a diamond. For Gilles Maudry, with his inquiring and dynamic mind, is a man of reappraisal. He believes in the value of everyone’s experience and in group strength. He was responsible for bringing the Centre-Val-de-Loire regional federation into the national syndicate of independent winemakers. That says it all.
La vigne n’est pas, au départ, dans ses objectifs. Il se destinait aux mathématiques. Licence en Maths, puis Institut des sciences financières et des assurances à Lyon. Pendant l’été il donne un coup de main. Son père a besoin de lui. Il y va. Il attaque une double activité, économique et viticole. Après son BTS viti-oeno, il y reste. Il change d’orientation. Définitivement. Pour la vigne.
